About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Multimedia Editor to join our team at Science News Media Group. As a key member of our editorial team, you will be responsible for producing high-quality video content and leading our multimedia journalism efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Video Production: Plan, produce, and edit video, audio, and interactive digital assets to engage our audience.
  • Audience Growth: Build and maintain our audience on video platforms, including YouTube and TikTok.
  • Scriptwriting: Write or edit video scripts that extend our print coverage and provide accurate information to our readers.
  • Metrics Analysis: Use metrics to evaluate and iterate our multimedia strategy to ensure maximum impact.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues across Science News Media Group on multimedia coverage and experiments to grow our audience.
  • Content Oversight: Provide oversight and consultation on our web publishing strategy to maximize timeliness and impact.
  • Freelance Management: Commission and manage freelance multimedia content and work with animators or artists for long-form video projects.
Qualifications
  • Organizational Skills: Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Video Production Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in video and multimedia production in a newsroom setting.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage teams, including freelance contractors.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on broadcast copy.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with video and multimedia platforms such as Premiere Pro, CapCut, and Flourish.
