POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the Group Sales or Department Manager, the Team Leader provides daily oversight to the associates in a designated department within the store. This includes responsibilities such as product presentation, inventory management, pricing strategies, sales initiatives, stocking, and customer service operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assists the GSM / DM in meeting Departmental Sales, Gross Margin, Inventory Control, and Payroll Objectives.
  • Offers daily guidance to department associates.
  • Creates task lists and action plans.
  • Implements all merchandising directives, including promotional items and maintains plan-o-grams as established by the Corporate Office.
  • Ensures a welcoming and efficient shopping experience for all customers.
  • Collaborates with the GSM / DM and Human Resources Manager to recruit service-oriented associates; participates in the interview process and provides recommendations for hiring; coordinates training; consults with GSM and contributes to performance evaluations; prepares weekly work schedules; mentors and inspires associates to foster positive customer relations and a collaborative team environment.
  • Addresses customer and associate concerns in conjunction with the GSM / DM and HR Manager.
  • Maintains a high standard of personal customer service; achieves results that exceed the Company average in customer satisfaction metrics.
  • Stays informed as a product expert through continuous training; conducts product demonstrations for the entire team.
  • Assists the GSM / DM with the coordination of all special events; ensures pricing and UPC accuracy; determines appropriate product assortments; oversees the display, signage, and pricing of all promotional items.
  • Supports the GSM / DM in executing supervisory responsibilities in alignment with Company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning and directing work, measuring and evaluating performance, addressing complaints, and resolving issues while maintaining a positive, harassment-free work environment for all associates.
  • Delivers an exceptional experience for every customer by assisting them in making informed purchasing decisions by:
    • identifying and assessing customer needs,
    • making tailored product recommendations,
    • promoting programs such as CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 2 to 4 years in Retail Sales.
  • Supervisory experience is advantageous.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
  • Ability to perform calculations involving discounts, commissions, and percentages.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze various reports.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to inquiries from Managers, associates, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to conduct meetings and presentations to groups.
  • Proficiency in PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and electronic point of sale and inventory management systems.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, associates, customers, and Corporate Staff.
