About this Role

The Pollination Specialist at Beeflow is tasked with hands-on responsibilities related to the execution of our Pollination Program. This role is based on operational needs, primarily focusing on hive assessments and the application of our innovative feeding technologies. Regular hive evaluations are essential before and after the peak pollination season.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough hive assessments to evaluate hive health and quality.
  • Monitor and document hive conditions throughout the pollination period.
  • Administer feeding solutions with precision to maintain hive productivity.
  • Ensure hives remain healthy and effective for pollination tasks.
  • Inspect hives for pests, diseases, and other potential threats.
  • Facilitate the relocation of hives to various agricultural sites as needed.
  • Repair and assemble hives to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Operate heavy machinery, including forklifts and trailers, as required.
  • Be prepared to work shifts ranging from 6 to 16 hours, including occasional night shifts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish is highly desirable.
  • Experience and knowledge of the agricultural sector, particularly within the local area.
  • Must not have allergies to bee stings.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in beekeeping is essential.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel to nearby locations for hive assessments and feedings independently.
  • Ability to lift weights up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment

  • Capability to stand or walk for extended durations.
  • Comfortable working with bees while wearing appropriate protective gear.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be at ease with the possibility of bee stings.
