Job Summary

The Assistant Manager plays a vital role in the success of Rack Room Shoes by assisting the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations. This includes ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, providing leadership and guidance to store staff, and assuming responsibility for store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for employees and customers.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by creating a positive shopping experience, maintaining service standards, and providing training to staff members.
  • Manage POS terminal transactions, sales, discounts, refunds, loyalty programs, and inventory control.
  • Conduct physical inventory, manage inventory levels, and maintain accurate records.
  • Develop and implement visual merchandising strategies to enhance store presentation and drive sales.
  • Manage payroll, scheduling, and time and attendance.
  • Train and develop direct reports, ensuring they meet operational standards.
  • Collaborate with Store Management, District/Regional Managers, and other stakeholders to achieve business objectives.

Requirements

  • Approved background check.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Visual merchandising skills and knowledge of footwear, accessories, and shoe care.
  • Basic mathematical skills and knowledge of corporate and store operations policies and procedures.
