We are seeking a highly skilled Irrigation Systems Technician to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire irrigation system throughout our campus, ensuring its optimal performance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor, operate, service, and repair all irrigation zones on a monthly basis, addressing any issues that may arise.
- Oversee irrigation system installations by outside contractors, ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard of quality and in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Manage parts inventory, submitting material requests to replenish parts inventory on a monthly basis.
- Troubleshoot and maintain the electrical system used to operate the irrigation and pump system.
- Inspect, diagnose, repair, adjust, and program satellite controllers and clocks, as well as understand how to diagnose faulty electrical solenoids for the irrigation system.
- Repair and install PVC pipe and fittings, fabricate parts, and modify the system as necessary.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery and equipment such as tractors and trenchers.
- Coordinate with contractors and project managers to ensure any damage is repaired during construction projects.
- Maintain all irrigation backflows throughout the campus.
- Perform utility locates as requested through 811 Okie Locate on campus and update through 811 Okie portal.
- Perform snow removal and other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an irrigation technician.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate desktop computers, iPads, and applicable irrigation operating software.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials.
- Be able to work primarily outside in all types of extreme weather conditions.
- Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and be able to operate a typical motor vehicle.
- 2+ years of experience as an irrigation technician.
- Experience operating irrigation software.
- Strong knowledge of irrigation system installation, repair, and maintenance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and 75 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry 200 feet.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry up/down 30 stairs.
- Ability to walk regularly for long periods of time across the campus.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to use and reach with hands and arms regularly.
- Ability to climb in high places using a ladder or balance frequently.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and crawl occasionally.
- Ability to push or pull a dolly loaded with up to 120 pounds for 300 feet occasionally.
- Must have close, distance, and peripheral vision.
- Depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Pass PFT (pulmonary function test).
