Position Overview:
The End User Support Specialist II operates under general supervision to deliver specialized and intricate technology support for end users. This role may require after-hours availability and necessitates a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Level 3 background check, which can be obtained upon hiring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support Coordination (50%): Provide comprehensive technical assistance across various environments, including classrooms, computer labs, conference rooms, and office spaces. This role encompasses support for specialized audio/visual equipment and Apple products.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution (25%): Address a range of end user computing and connectivity challenges. Collaborate with colleagues, faculty, and students to resolve technical issues, ensuring thorough follow-up until resolution or escalation.
- User Needs Assessment (5%): Investigate unique end user requirements and offer tailored guidance on hardware and software selections to meet their objectives while adhering to policy standards.
- Training and Mentorship (5%): Assist and mentor staff and students in resolving technical issues, providing training on advanced software applications and contributing to the development of user training materials.
- Documentation Review (5%): Ensure the accuracy of documentation related to end user support procedures and collaborate with management on operational planning to achieve departmental goals.
- Technology Evaluation (5%): Assess new technologies for relevance to end user needs and facilitate employee adaptation to new tools to enhance organizational effectiveness.
- Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of three years of related IT experience, preferably in higher education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in basic computer operations, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
- Intermediate troubleshooting skills and client relations expertise.
- Ability to multitask and collaborate effectively with others, including student employees.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in conveying technical information to non-technical users.
Additional Information:
- This position is security-sensitive and requires passing a Criminal Justice Information System Fingerprint Background Check.
- Salary is commensurate with experience, with a target base annual salary starting at $44,212, negotiable based on funding and candidate qualifications.
