Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Financial Counselor to join our team at Froedtert Health. As a Financial Counselor, you will play a critical role in assessing patient financial needs, assisting patients, and collecting deposits according to our Billing and Collection Policy. You will also screen patients and assist with applications for governmental programs, the health insurance exchange, and/or our financial assistance program.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient financial needs and provide guidance on available financial assistance options
  • Collect deposits and payments from patients in a professional and courteous manner
  • Screen patients for eligibility for governmental programs, the health insurance exchange, and/or our financial assistance program
  • Assist patients with applications and provide support throughout the process
  • Collaborate with Admitting/Registration, Preauthorization, Care Management, and other departments to ensure seamless patient financial services
Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in healthcare/revenue cycle functions, case management, or social work
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software programs
  • Experience using Epic in a healthcare environment (preferred)
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in social work, case management, healthcare administration, business administration, or related field (preferred)
  • State of Wisconsin and Federal Certified Application Counselor Designation (preferred); current Licensed Health Insurance Agent (in lieu of Certified Application Counselor Designation)
