Pharmacy Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee pharmacy services and personnel across various operational areas, ensuring safe, timely, efficient, equitable, effective, and patient-centered care.
* Lead quality improvement initiatives, implementing projects as assigned by the Manager/Director, with a focus on maximizing project outcomes and adhering to organizational priorities and timelines.
* Ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations, USP, and JCAHO accreditation standards, maintaining expertise in the selection and use of quality improvement methodologies/tools.
Work Schedule:
* Night shift, 7 days on / 7 days off, from 8 PM to 7 AM, with a 7-day stretch off to pursue personal interests, travel, and maintain a great work-life balance.
* The work week starts on Monday night and ends the following Monday morning, with every other weekend and holidays coinciding with the scheduled work week.
About the Role:
As a Pharmacy Operations Manager, you will be responsible for supervising and leading the provision of safe, timely, efficient, equitable, effective, and patient-centered pharmacy services, overseeing operations or applications in assigned areas of specific oversight, and ensuring pharmacist and technician workflows are followed.
* Troubleshoot unplanned issues, delegating or escalating if needed, and ensure achievement of productivity standards, adherence to regulations and standards of performance and accreditation, and maintenance of expertise in assigned areas of specific responsibility.
* Hold staff accountable to standards of the department and UPMC, serve as a liaison for staff and leadership in assigned areas of specific oversight, and support clinical pharmacy workflows and practice expectations through operational planning.
* Participate in the annual review and revision of the Policy and Procedures manual, identify opportunities to redesign systems of oversight to maximize performance, manage current electronic health record (EHR), technology, and automation for optimum value, and review reports for medication errors, adverse drug events, and/or ineffective service.
Requirements:
* 3 years of operational experience in a pharmacy, with ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the specific areas of responsibility, and understanding of departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
* Previous hospital pharmacy and supervisory experience preferred, with computer skills, word processing, spreadsheets, pharmacy software, and databases, effective oral and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to work independently, knowledge of healthcare information systems and pharmacy automation and technology, and ability to recognize personal strengths and weaknesses and develop goals for professional growth and achievement.
Benefits:
UPMC offers a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, based on experience, plus benefits including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans, generous paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
