Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Portfolio Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining favorable relationships with current and prospective clients, identifying and capturing opportunities to cross-sell additional loan and other bank products, and providing support to Underwriting, Credit, and the Senior Credit Risk Officer in managing loans and pipeline.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients to identify and capture opportunities for cross-selling bank products.
  • Provide support to Underwriting, Credit, and the Senior Credit Risk Officer in managing loans and pipeline.
  • Analyze clients' needs and assess their financial position and credit worthiness to ensure loans meet credit and financial requirements.
  • Make critical decisions regarding credit risk, supported by substantial analysis and data-based decision making.
  • Negotiate terms, structure loan financing costs, repayment methods, collateral requirements, and rates based on risk considerations.
  • Partner with borrowers to provide a preliminary assessment of the necessity of an extension or modification and communicate with the Senior Credit Risk Officer.
  • Analyze credits and make recommendations as to whether an extension/modification is deemed appropriate, and negotiate the terms and conditions of the proposed extension or modification.
  • Report on the overall portfolio, including ongoing financial reviews, assessing asset quality, stress testing, industry and market analysis, competitive analysis, asset allocation, reserves, and non-performing loan analysis.
  • Review financial information to assess financial performance and validate covenant compliance in a timely manner.
  • Participate in business and community organizations and regularly attend networking events.
  • Interact with internal and external clients while providing extraordinary service.
  • Develop and maintain trusted, positive relationships with other employees, clients, and vendors.
  • Represent the Bank in a highly professional manner.
  • Complete job assignments in a professional, timely, and efficient manner; organize and prioritize work.
  • Maintain confidentiality; adhere to CrossFirst Bank policies and procedures; comply with laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Reliable and predictable onsite attendance.
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of commercial banking, underwriting, or portfolio management and structuring experience.
  • Formal credit training, preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial banking products and services, including credit analysis, underwriting, and treasury management products and services.
  • Demonstrated strong financial acumen and high-level problem-solving skills.
  • Salesforce/nCino experience is preferred.
  • Effective communicator, results-oriented, demonstrates the ability to excel in high-pressure situations.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate long-term relationships and influence others internally and externally.
  • Proven performer in a fast-paced service-oriented role, ideally from a commercial banking environment with strong knowledge and understanding of bank products, services, and operations.
  • Proficient technical skills with the Internet and in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Bachelor's degree with exposure to Finance, Business, or Economics courses is preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • An advanced degree and/or ongoing banking seminars and other resources is preferred.
