Role Summary: As a Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Technician, you will play a crucial role in the operation and maintenance of endoscopic equipment, providing essential support to medical professionals during procedures, and ensuring efficient workflow within the Endoscopy Center. Your specialized skills and meticulous approach will significantly enhance the quality of care provided to patients.
Essential Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience in a healthcare environment
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology; experience in a GI Procedure Room or reprocessing
- Understanding of infection control practices
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting in Procedures:
- Support physicians during endoscopic procedures
- Prepare and sanitize procedure rooms between cases
- Follow safety protocols and emergency procedures diligently
- Cleaning and Reprocessing:
- Thoroughly clean, rinse, and leak test scopes after each use
- Effectively soak, reprocess, and package instruments
- Ensure cleanliness and organization in the decontamination area
- Equipment Oversight:
- Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and equipment
- Operate, troubleshoot, and conduct preventive maintenance on endoscopic devices
- Assist in keeping precise records of equipment usage
- General Support Duties:
- Assist with the collection of waste, linens, and biohazard materials
- Contribute to the overall cleanliness of the Center and adherence to safety standards
- Engage in staff meetings and training sessions
