Position Overview: The Agricultural Equipment Operator is tasked with the precise customization and application of dry fertilizers across client fields while managing all applicator machinery, including routine maintenance of the equipment.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Seasonal Duties:
    Operates various vehicles and machinery to apply pesticides and fertilizers.
  • Keeps detailed records of acres treated.
  • Conducts maintenance and calibration of application machinery.
  • Monitors weed control in treated areas.
  • Utilizes appropriate protective gear.

Off-Season Duties:
  • Engages in ongoing education to maintain pesticide applicator certification.
  • Participates in workshops focused on applicator equipment.
  • Performs maintenance on additional machinery and fixed facilities.
  • Collects soil samples.
  • Mixes both dry and liquid fertilizers.
  • Handles the pickup and delivery of agricultural chemicals, fertilizers, and seeds.
  • Completes other job-related tasks as assigned by management.

Attendance: Regular and reliable attendance is essential.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in operating large agricultural equipment is necessary.
  • A CDL is preferred, and a pesticide license is mandatory.
  • Additional licenses or certifications may be required in certain states based on specific contracts.
  • Must successfully pass a drug test and background check.

Key Skills:

  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Basic understanding of agricultural pesticides and weed identification.
  • Excellent driving record.
  • Ability to accurately interpret field maps.
  • Commitment to safety practices.
  • Capacity to pass a CDL physical examination.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.

Compensation:
The pay rate begins at $18-23 per hour.

Work Environment:

The work environment is primarily outdoors, subject to various weather conditions, with exposure to outdoor elements.

While working outdoors and around moving machinery, employees may encounter fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations, and a risk of electrical shock.

This role requires manual dexterity for various tasks, as well as the ability to talk, hear, walk, stand, and sit. Occasionally, lifting or moving up to 50 pounds may be required.
