Job Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the effective management of maintenance operations within state buildings and related structures. This role involves supervising a dedicated team, ensuring that all tasks are executed efficiently and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Directs and mentors subordinate staff, ensuring clarity in work assignments and maintaining high levels of productivity.
  • Maintenance Oversight: Manages the repair, upkeep, and construction activities, ensuring compliance with quality standards and timelines.
  • Technical Skills: Assembles, installs, and repairs various systems including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical components.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Coordinates the safe handling of hazardous materials in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Problem Solving: Diagnoses and rectifies mechanical and structural issues by consulting blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Oversees routine checks and maintenance tasks to ensure operational efficiency and prevent deterioration of facilities.
  • Skilled Trades: Performs specialized tasks such as painting, carpentry, and roofing, utilizing blueprints and plans to guide work.
  • Safety Practices: Ensures adherence to safety regulations while performing maintenance and repair tasks.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess a high school diploma or GED along with four years of relevant experience in building maintenance or a related field, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity. Alternatively, candidates may qualify with two years of experience in a lower-level position.
