About the Role

Mountain View Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Patient Financial Counselor Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our financial services department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical billing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with physicians' offices to facilitate financial status prior to services.
  • Meet with patients before admission to discuss their billing and financial obligations.
  • Verify demographic information and payment source upon pre-admission.
  • Secure payment with patients and insurance companies by pre-certifying services or obtaining a commitment for payment.
  • Follow up with patients and insurance companies to ensure timely payment and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Work closely with the billing office to ensure accurate and timely billing and collection of patient accounts.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of our hospital's financial policies and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families, ensuring a positive experience throughout the billing process.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • AA or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in a related field, such as behavioral science, human relations, or medical terminology.
  • Two years of medical staff office work experience, which can be substituted for education requirement.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, as well as interpret legal documents and court decisions when necessary.
