Job Summary:

As a Medical Assistant II in our Pediatrics department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families. Under the direct supervision of a licensed provider, you will perform routine patient care tasks, including vital signs, wound care, and medication administration. You will also assist with patient education, orientation, and communication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform nursing care functions, such as vital signs, wound care, and medication administration, following established policies and procedures.
  • Assist with patient education, orientation, and communication, including providing instruction sheets and reviewing patient information.
  • Conduct routine patient care tasks, such as cleaning and disinfecting instruments and equipment, and preparing treatment rooms.
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures and diagnostic examinations, including positioning and draping patients.
  • Prepare and transport medical equipment and laboratory specimens, as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including charting and filing.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance activities and report incidents or concerns to the Department Administrator or designee.
Requirements:
  • Vocational Nurse License (California)
  • Basic Life Support
  • Ability to work effectively with the public and demonstrate knowledge of sterile technique.
  • Ability to give and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to customers, contracted providers, and vendors.
Work Environment:

This is a part-time position, working 32 hours per week, with occasional weekends required. You will be based in our San Marcos Medical Offices, with the possibility of floating to other North Quadrant locations.
