Job Summary:

The China Legal Analyst will support the monitoring and enforcement function of the Interagency Center on Trade Implementation, Monitoring and Enforcement (ICTIME) within the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative by providing research and analysis using Chinese language material. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of written Chinese and be able to research and identify relevant information using Chinese language sources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research on Chinese trade, economic, industrial, and investment policies using electronic and print resources, including Chinese language sources.
  • Summarize Chinese sources in English orally and in writing.
  • Translate Chinese excerpts and documents into English.
  • Draft English memoranda and reports summarizing and/or analyzing research results.
  • Assist in gathering evidence for litigation and investigations.
  • Fact and citation check.
Requirements:
  • Extensive and advanced knowledge of written Chinese.
  • Extensive knowledge of research sources and methods using Chinese.
  • Ability to research and identify relevant information using Chinese language sources.
  • Ability to organize and analyze applicable information from Chinese sources.
  • Ability to write clearly in English on complex subjects.
  • Experience developing deliverables using the Microsoft Office suite.
