Job Title: Public Health Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Health Registered Nurse to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As a Public Health Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in promoting health and preventing disease in our communities.

Job Summary:

The Public Health Registered Nurse will provide professional nursing care to populations with special needs during disasters, emergencies, and biological and chemical protocols. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work efficiently under established clinic protocols.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Focus on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, and the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations.
  • Care for populations with special needs during disasters, emergencies, and biological and chemical protocols.
  • Conduct audits for schools and daycares.
  • Conduct scoliosis screenings for schools.
  • Conduct hearing, vision, and dental screenings for school attendance.
  • Cross-train to TB, Child Health, Family Planning, and IDC clinics.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire.
  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license.
  • CPR certification.

  • Superior interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under established clinic protocols.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with corporate clients.
  • Self-directed.
  • Ability to complete tasks without detailed supervision.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Experience vaccinating all age groups.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish.
