Job Title: Nuclear and Particle Physics Researcher

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated and talented Nuclear and Particle Physics Researcher to join our team. As a researcher in this role, you will work on a research project with a staff scientist mentor and co-mentor in one of our areas of research, including Astrophysics & Heliophysics, Basic Nuclear Theory, High-Energy Physics, Nuclear Reactions in light and heavy elements, and applications of these areas to practical problems in science and national security.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in theoretical physics and mathematics, and will be able to communicate effectively in a professional scientific context. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in nuclear and particle physics under the guidance of a staff scientist mentor and co-mentor
  • Develop and employ modern theoretical and computational tools to probe fundamental physics
  • Collaborate with other researchers in the NPAC theory group to advance our understanding of the universe

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program in theoretical physics or mathematics
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 semester credit hours (or full-time equivalent)
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
