Job Title: Supervisor of Pupil Personnel Services

Join Bristol Public Schools as a Supervisor of Pupil Personnel Services and play a vital role in providing sound educational programs for students who require special education services.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to develop and implement effective special education programs. This includes evaluating curriculum, procedures, and individual student needs, as well as supervising and coordinating special education classroom programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop budget recommendations and provide expenditure control on special education budgets.
  • Evaluate and improve special education curriculum, procedures, and individual student needs and achievements.
  • Supervise and coordinate special education classroom programs in conjunction with building principals.
  • Compile and maintain all reports and records.
  • Interpret special education objectives and programs to staff and the public.
  • Implement procedures for referral, evaluation, placement, assignment, and re-appraisal of students with regard to special education services.
  • Consult with parents of students enrolled in the program.
  • Provide programs to supplement regular classroom instruction.
  • Arrange special education transportation.
  • Implement procedures for purchasing special education equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in district-wide activities, in-service, and committees as appropriate.
  • Supervise preparation of attendance reports and similar data necessary for reimbursement of funds, collection of tuition for out-of-district students, and similar fiscal matters.
  • Keep informed of all legal requirements governing special education.
  • Assist with in-service and training of teachers.
  • Assist in adapting school policies to include special education needs.
  • Attend special events held to recognize student achievement and school-sponsored activities.
  • Schedule staff assignments.
  • Supervise and coordinate home instruction for special students.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student conduct and enforce discipline as necessary.
  • Cooperate with college and university officials regarding teacher training and preparation.
  • Perform other functions as required by the Superintendent of Schools.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree and/or sixth-year certificate.
  • Minimum of five years teaching experience.
  • Intermediate administrative certification.
  • Special education or pupil personnel certification.
Work Environment:

The work environment is typically quiet, with occasional moderate to loud noise levels when working in a school environment.

This is a per-contract position with a school year date of service.
