Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team of healthcare professionals. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our nursing staff in providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine technical tasks, such as vital signs, specimen collection, and intake/output monitoring.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients, ensuring safe transportation and positioning.
  • Reinforce patient teachings initiated by registered nurses, promoting patient education and empowerment.
  • Clean and maintain patient, program, and unit areas, including equipment.
  • Consider special needs and behaviors of specific patient age groups, providing individualized care.
  • Prepare and perform recreational activities with patients, promoting socialization and engagement.
  • Perform and assist with home visits, including activities of daily living (ADLs), transfers, and companionship.
  • Accompany patients to medical appointments and pharmacy drop-offs/pick-ups.
  • Provide personal care for patients, including toileting, bathing, eating, transferring, dressing, and grooming.
  • Assist management in carrying out the activity program, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging experience for patients.
  • Assist with meal and snack servings, promoting nutrition and hydration.
  • Perform meal counts, as needed, to ensure accurate tracking of patient intake.
  • Interact with patients and family members, providing emotional support and education.
  • Transport patients and equipment, as needed, to ensure safe and efficient care.
  • Document all care and services provided to patients, maintaining accurate and comprehensive records.
  • Monitor and report any variances to normal patient activity to the nurse for further assessment.
  • Follow infectious disease precautions to prevent the spread of organisms, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Attend and actively participate in the intake and assessment process, as needed, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Share accountability for overall patient health outcomes by working in coordination with care teams.
  • Attend center staff meetings and in-service educational training programs, staying up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • California Nurse Assistant certification is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
  • One year experience working with the frail elderly population is required.
Additional Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledgeable about and experience with working with elderly populations.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent planning and organizational ability.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs/weight.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
