Overview:
The Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in assessing, coordinating, planning, directing, implementing, and managing the care of assigned patients throughout their treatment journey, with a strong emphasis on facilitating progress towards discharge, including during transitions within the acute care environment. The Registered Nurse is accountable for the delivery and coordination of patient care provided by the healthcare team.

They ensure that proficient and compassionate care is consistently delivered to all stakeholders, including referring facilities, hospital personnel, and patients across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.

The Medical Cardiology unit is a 29-bed facility featuring 1 private room, 13 semi-private rooms, and one 4-bed room.

Patients are admitted from various sources including the Emergency Department, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, CCU, MICU, physician offices, and other facilities when inpatient care is required.

The patient demographic includes both male and female individuals, acutely and chronically ill, presenting with a wide range of cardiac and medical conditions.

Most patients require telemetry monitoring following minimally-invasive and invasive cardiac interventions. The age spectrum ranges from young adults (18 years) to the elderly.

Key Responsibilities:
Essential duties include but are not limited to:

- Implementing physician directives, administering medications, initiating IVs, performing treatments, procedures, and special tests, and documenting care as mandated by company policy and local/state/federal regulations.

- Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests to assess patients' conditions.
- Assessing and evaluating patient needs and responses to care provided.
- Utilizing sound nursing judgment in managing patient care decisions.
- Providing primary and emergency care for both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Administering prescribed medications as ordered.
- Collaborating with the nursing team to develop a comprehensive Plan of Care for all patients.
- Directing and guiding ancillary staff while maintaining professional nursing standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program resulting in a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree.
- Must possess a current NYS Registered Nurse license.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.
- Previous experience as a PCA or in a nursing assistance role is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to enhance job performance through ongoing education.

- Knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving techniques, with the ability to apply these in support of departmental and patient care quality improvement initiatives.
