Job Summary

The Waterfront Staff Engineer will perform general project engineering duties, including computer-aided design and drafting, regulatory applications and coordination, preparation of contract documents, engineering computations and budget estimates, and inspection and administration of construction for Civil Engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply engineering principles and practices with a focus on coastal/waterfront processes, structures, and erosion control.
  • Analyze coastal processes, design, and implement waterfront improvements, and conduct studies to assess the impact of waterfront projects.
  • Provide engineering design support for marina and waterfront projects.
  • Prepare cost estimates, project schedules, engineering reports, and other technical documents.
  • Conduct site visits and fieldwork as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Engineer in Training preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D preferred.
  • Experience with construction materials, procedures, and documents.
  • Basic knowledge of Civil Engineering principles.
  • Ability to read basic Civil Engineering and Architectural drawings.
  • Ability to accurately measure and calculate items such as grade, area, and volume.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
Work Environment

Typical office environment with some work performed outside on a project site. May be exposed to extreme temperatures. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety boots/shoes, hard hat, safety vest, etc.
