Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Production Engineer to join our team at the WALBRO facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop intricate engineering products, processes, or machinery, including detailed specifications and assembly methodologies for our products and/or manufacturing equipment.
  • Extensively utilize CAD software and perform finite element analysis as a standard part of design tasks. Provide guidance to junior technical staff as needed.
  • Independently collect data and insights for the creation of original designs or modifications to existing designs based on general directives regarding objectives and parameters.
  • Plan and execute engineering projects and manufacturing tasks that necessitate advanced engineering expertise.
  • Create and present initial drawings, sketches, or diagrams that illustrate fundamental concepts to secure validation of the approach and techniques.
  • Facilitate discussions with suppliers, clients, and various internal teams to gather feedback, achieve consensus, and clarify project goals and timelines.
  • May oversee design drafters in the completion of projects or tasks.
  • Engage in preliminary studies and cost assessments for proposed initiatives, recommending modifications to enhance manufacturability and assembly.
  • Compile bills of materials and standards or specifications, contributing to the formulation of project budgets, timelines, and release schedules.
  • Execute individual assignments as directed by supervisors, ensuring rigorous quality control over all assigned activities; cultivate effective working relationships within the department, the corporation, and the broader community; and maintain the professional expertise necessary for the successful execution of all responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical knowledge typically gained through the completion of a bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an entry-level engineering role, either during or after obtaining the engineering degree.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication, technical presentations, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Three years of progressive experience in a related field.
