Key Responsibilities
The General Surgeon will report to the Chief Medical Officer, or their designee, ensuring surgical coverage aligns with the care standards of Garnet Health Medical Center.

This role focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and overall management of surgical patients, ensuring a positive impact on the quality of care.

The Surgeon will employ a range of skills to educate, consult, and manage the surgical patient demographic, collaborating with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Collaboration is essential; the General Surgeon will work alongside nurse practitioners, physician assistants, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals involved in surgical care.

Additionally, the Surgeon will serve as a clinical educator, guiding staff on surgical competencies, new techniques, and advanced practice skills.

Working with the care team, the Surgeon will implement necessary medical aspects of care, including discharge planning and pain management, to enhance the patient experience.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $365,711 - $425,003 annually. This range does not include bonuses, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits. Various factors may influence compensation, including location, specialty, service line, years of experience, education, credentials, and internal equity.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
Minimum Experience:
5 years of surgical experience preferred.
Required Certification/Registration:
New York State Medical License.
Board Certification:
Surgery Board Certification/Board Eligibility; Trauma/Surgical Critical Care preferred.
Updated ACLS certification is required; BLS certification is optional but recommended; ATLS and PALS certifications preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged standing, walking, and sitting intermittently throughout the day. Ability to lift, push, and pull light to heavy weights as necessary.
Working Conditions:
Involves work in the emergency room, surgery suite, inpatient areas, and clinic settings.
