We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Professional Learning Coach to join our team at Holyoke Community College. As a key member of our Center for Academic Program Support (CAPS), you will play a vital role in providing academic support services to our students.
Key Responsibilities- Provide initial intake and assessment of learning strengths and areas of development to make appropriate plans and referrals for academic support.
- Design and implement academic support plans for students based upon assessed strengths and needs.
- Work one-on-one with a caseload of students in the capacity of a Learning Coach, meeting with them on a regular basis to monitor academic progress.
- Interpret teacher interventions and classroom directions.
- Administer and use learning style inventories to plan a course of action for students seeking help.
- Structure the learning experience so that students may better understand the course content.
- Assist students in the writing process, pre-drafting, revising, and editing.
- Work with specific support programs on campus that serve target populations to provide academic support and individualized learning programs.
- Consult with college faculty and other campus supports to implement educational accommodations for students with documented learning disabilities.
- Become skilled in using computer-assisted instruction software.
- Help students integrate information technology within the given area.
- Use the Assistive Technology Center when needed.
- Identify and utilize available resources.
- Attend scheduled meetings or workshops.
- Communicate with instructors on a regular basis to review tutorial services.
- Communicate with other resources for assistance, such as ESL staff, Math, and Writing Coordinators.
- Explore online tutoring as a resource.
- Provide training in the area of expertise, according to CRLA Certification guidelines.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Ability to work effectively and flexibly with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
- Part-time, non-benefited unit position.
- 18.5 hours per week.
- $32.64 per hour.
