Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Akahi Associates, LLC.

About the Role:

The Medical Laboratory Technician will perform a full range of clinical laboratory tests in various sections, including hematology, chemistry, cytology, histotechnology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, and blood bank.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate's degree or higher in a relevant field, as well as certification/registration as determined by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT). One year of experience in a related field is also required.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform a full range of clinical laboratory tests in various sections.
  2. Determine the suitability of specimens for analysis and prepare them for analysis.
  3. Prepare reagents and primary reference materials as necessary.
  4. Calibrate, standardize, adjust, and maintain instruments.
  5. Verify correct instrument operation using established procedures and quality control checks.
  6. Identify the cause of common problems and make simple repairs.
  7. Recognize and react to indicators of malfunction and locate corrections.
  8. Obtain analytical data, convert to a prescribed unit of reporting, and correlate data to verify results.
  9. Conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents, and products and maintain proper records.
  10. Prepare specimens for transport to MTF laboratory or for mail out.
  11. Prepare biological waste for proper disposal.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Certification/registration as determined by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT).
  • One year of experience in a related field.
