Transformative Aerospace Structures Design Engineer

As a Design Engineer, Structures Aerospace & Defense, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of aerospace structures by leveraging new materials and technologies to transform traditional manufacturing methods.

The Role

As a key member of our Structures team, you will be responsible for:

  • Creating and managing CAD models for individual NodesTM and full structure assemblies
  • Managing BOM creation and population of the Nodes and hardware
  • Collaborating with inter-group engineers to understand manufacturing/design capabilities and limitations
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure cross-functional requirements are met while achieving safety targets
  • Presenting design summaries and comprehensive reports efficiently at customer meetings and to other engineers
  • Developing and executing new technical solutions for aerospace structures to support external customer programs and joint development efforts
  • Contributing to the design and release of structures that are optimized for mass, efficient production, assembly, and integration
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace structure design
  • 3+ years of CAD experience creating detailed and intricate models
  • 3+ years of PLM experience
  • A solid understanding of linear/nonlinear behaviors of advanced materials (composites, adhesives, metals) to achieve lightweight structural solutions
  • Experience with aerospace load applications and MIL-STDs
  • Outstanding comprehension of solid mechanics
  • Solid interpersonal skills, motivated self-starter who can manage personal workload and execution to tight schedule
  • Experience interfacing with engineering, testing, and manufacturing groups to understand system designs and the associated constraints
  • Experience supporting analysis and completing documentations for airworthiness certifications
  • Experience supporting or engaging directly with DoD airworthiness stakeholders such as Air Force Test Center (AFTC) or FAA
  • Experience supporting structural design and analysis throughout the design, build, and test phases of a development cycle
  • Experience with fast iteration prototyping programs
  • Experience managing system configurations and managing changes to size, weight, and cost constraints
Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter
  • Knowledge of overall vehicle systems/sub-systems and requirements
