About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our team at Singer Vehicle Design. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing, releasing, and implementing new parts and assemblies to improve our existing products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize and create mechanical designs using SolidWorks and/or Catia V5 for new products used in late model air-cooled Porsches restored by Singer Vehicle Design
  • Research, plan, design, and develop mechanical products and systems, including instruments, controls, engines, machines, and mechanical systems for prototype and production purposes
  • Apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems
  • Plan, execute, and initiate process improvement initiatives, such as Lean or Six Sigma
  • Evaluate existing drawings and 3D models of assemblies and processes
  • Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new designs
  • Create working prototypes for first article fit and function testing
  • Review and approve 3D models and 2D drawings and specifications created by junior design engineers
  • Collaborate with Design and Production Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Production teams
  • Interact with suppliers and contractors as required
  • Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process
  • Ensure project timeline is met and projects remain within budget
  • Identify indicators for improvement and cost reduction opportunities
  • Create product introduction materials, work instructions, exploded view parts manuals, and other related documents
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering with automotive, mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering emphasis
  • Minimum of 10 years of mechanical design and drafting experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, Catia, or equivalent
  • Proficient in CATIA V5
  • Preferred education, experience, and/or certifications include a Master's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, automotive/motorsport experience, 3D printing and scanning technologies, Formula SAE student design experience, surface modeling, and ERP/MRP systems
