About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Automation Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our team, you will design and implement automation systems, working closely with a leading global manufacturer of process instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and maintain manufacturing automation systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Design and develop PLC and loop controller systems according to project requirements, meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs and loop controllers from various manufacturers, including Automation Direct and Allen-Bradley.
  • Create and manage HMI terminals for user interaction with controllers, ensuring seamless communication.
  • Program equipment controllers and implement additional controls as needed, enhancing system efficiency.
  • Design and layout electrical control panels, enclosures, and associated controls, adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and maintain databases to track system performance and modifications.
  • Document control system designs and track modifications for future reference, ensuring knowledge sharing and continuity.
  • Participate in performance testing, commissioning, and project startup, collaborating with engineers and IT teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Address and resolve end-user issues with automation equipment, providing technical support and diagnostic services.
  • Assist with facility electrical troubleshooting, coordinating with electricians and external vendors to ensure prompt resolution.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or Controls Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Over five years of relevant experience or training in automation and controls engineering.
  • Proficient in programming PLCs using ladder logic (LL), function block diagrams (FBD), and other programming languages.
  • Knowledgeable in industrial communication protocols such as HART, Modbus, BACnet, and Ethernet/IP.
  • Experience in HMI design and programming, with a strong understanding of networking concepts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
