Operating Room Nursing Assistant

This position is located in the Indian Health Service, Division of Nursing, Operating Room. The successful candidate will serve as a member of the surgical team, delivering patient care before, during, and after surgery.
Responsibilities- Perform duties for scheduled and emergent surgical procedures.
- Evaluate patient's ongoing needs during intra-operative intervention and take required actions.
- Perform as first assistant when situation arises, assisting the Surgeon in the positioning and intra-operative care of the patient.
- Perform surgical counts with RN at beginning and end of procedures and any time a situation may warrant a count.
- Assist in the transport of patients, assist with the insertion of CVP lines, and administer oxygen and provide emergency supplies.
- Input surgical caseload data into computer database.
- Assist with the duties of the Medical Supply Technician.
- Follow strict Infection Control practices.
- Complete inventory and decontaminating of all surgical instrumentation from the OR and other units.
- Must pass pre-employment examination.
- Selectee may be subject to a probationary/trial period.
- ESEP appointees typically serve a two-year trial period.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children.
- Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957 and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities.
- COVID-19 vaccination is required for all selectees prior to entrance on duty.
