Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality laboratory services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations using various analyzers and/or manual methods.
  • Organize workload and set priorities, utilizing all available work time to assist others and perform additional tasks.
  • Meet turnaround time expectations as defined by management.
  • Demonstrate the six elements of competency for test systems used to generate patient test results in all areas assigned to work.
  • Recognize, investigate, and help resolve test discrepancies, taking appropriate action to investigate and address and notifying management and the medical director for follow-up.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section.
  • One year of work or training experience in a hospital laboratory preferred.
  • MLT(ASCP) - Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) - Preferred requirement within 1 year.
  • CLA - Certified Laboratory Assistant (ASCP) - Preferred requirement within 1 year.
  • MLT - Medical Laboratory Technician (AMT) within 1 year.
