Job Title: Grant Writer

We are seeking a highly skilled Grant Writer to join our team at the San Diego LGBT Community Center. As a Grant Writer, you will be responsible for developing, editing, and writing grant proposals to secure funding for our organization.

Job Summary

The Grant Writer will work closely with our Grants Manager to research funding opportunities, conduct grant writing, and submit proposals to federal, state, local, and private foundation funding sources. The successful candidate will have exceptional communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and identify funding opportunities that align with our organization's strategic planning goals
  • Develop and write grant proposals, including budgets and reports
  • Submit grant proposals to funding sources, ensuring timely and accurate submissions
  • Stay current with relevant statistics and best practices for service delivery
  • Utilize a centralized grants calendar and database for applications, reports, and awards or denials
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 2 years of experience in progressive grant writing and/or grant management responsibility in a non-profit organization
  • Demonstrated success in developing corporate and private foundation grant proposals that have been awarded in excess of $100,000
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work in a team environment and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in working with computers and Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive
Preferred Qualifications

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience working with financial and program management database systems, including Raiser's Edge, Apricot, Grant Hub, Instrumental, and similar systems. Familiarity with the San Diego funding landscape is also a plus.
