Unit Mission: The primary objective of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department is to deliver exceptional clinical services in both general and specialized Obstetrics and Gynecology to the community. Alongside this clinical focus, the department is dedicated to fostering medical education at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as advancing the field through rigorous research initiatives.

Purpose of the Role: The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is in search of qualified professionals to offer specialized care in General Obstetrics and Gynecology. This role is primarily focused on providing comprehensive care in general Obstetrics and Gynecology, which encompasses surgical procedures, inpatient consultations, and therapeutic interventions. Additionally, the position includes responsibilities in educating students and residents, as well as engaging in the department's research endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:

Education: The faculty member will actively engage in the educational framework of the department, particularly in guiding students and residents towards achieving their core learning objectives in general obstetrics and gynecology.

Research: The individual in this role is encouraged to spearhead clinical research initiatives and is expected to contribute to ongoing departmental research efforts, as well as participate in scholarly publications and presentations.

Service: The faculty member will be involved in various departmental, health system, and university committees as required, in addition to serving in a professional capacity within their area of expertise. Committee assignments will be determined by the division director and department chair.

Clinical Duties: Full engagement in the clinical operations of the general obstetrics and gynecology division is anticipated. Clinical responsibilities will be outlined by the division head and will likely include a mix of outpatient care, inpatient services, surgical procedures, and participation in on-call duties as necessary.

Additional Responsibilities: The faculty member will also take part in departmental and institutional administrative tasks as designated by the division head and department chair.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited OB/GYN residency program
  • Valid Virginia medical license or eligibility for licensure
  • Demonstrated potential for scholarly contributions to enhance the expertise within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Proven experience in promoting and supporting a diverse environment among faculty, staff, and students
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of an ACGME accredited OB/GYN residency
  • Strong teaching skills and a commitment to research and patient care
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of OB/GYN
