Controls Systems Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our team at UTEC - Universal Tool Equipment + Controls. As a Controls Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design and implementation of diverse and challenging solutions for industrial and commercial clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify hardware design and PLC/HMI programming
- Integrate and commission controls systems
- Collaborate with other engineers and consultants to design and implement solutions
- Ensure engineering compliance and company awareness with all customer specifications
- Work directly with hardware/software design team and project management to correct or modify existing designs when necessary
- Use testing and metering devices
- Interface with Mechanical Design, shop trades, and customers
- Understand and follow safety & environmental regulations and identify safety/environmental concerns
- Have a professional demeanor, solid interpersonal skills, and good written and oral communication capabilities
- Adhere to the Quality System and participate in continuous improvement
- Travel up to 75% (this varies greatly depending on customer and project timing and requirements)
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years working controls experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Preferred Bachelor's (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
- Able to write routine reports/correspondence
- Able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD annotations and tolerances
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Travel Requirements:
A valid driver's license is required. Regular local travel to UTEC facilities and customer/supplier sites for meetings or support is required. Non-local travel to customer sites for integration will be from 25%-75% over the course of a year. Travel requirements may vary based on project assignments and department workloads.
