Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Aquatic Safety Specialist to join our team at the City of Rio Rancho, NM. As an Indoor Pool Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of swimmers at our aquatic facilities, responding to emergency situations, and participating in swimming pool and facility safety and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lifeguarding and Instructional Duties: Perform lifeguarding and instructional duties, warning swimmers of improper activities and hazards, and responding to emergencies, rescuing persons in distress or in danger of drowning.
  • Facility Safety and Maintenance: Follow and enforce rules and regulations, maintaining facility order and safety, and notifying management of accidents, rescues, or problems.
  • Pool Safety and Maintenance: Assist in facility and pool safety and maintenance activities, including grounds, lobby, bathrooms, and party room, and monitor facility cleanliness and supply needs.
  • Rescue Knowledge and Skills: Maintain up-to-date rescue knowledge, skills, abilities, and procedures in the aquatic industry.
  • Swim Instruction: Provide swim instruction to swim lesson participants at all swim levels, plan and prepare curriculum for swim lessons, and respond to questions asked by pool users.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must have completed high school freshman year; if age 19 or older, must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to swim at least 1500 yards and tread water for several minutes.
