Job Summary:

As a professional nurse at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, you will provide high-quality patient care in an acute clinical environment, guided by our nursing professional practice model and adhering to the American Nurses Association's Standards of Professional Practice.

You will prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care for patients undergoing various radiologic procedures, including Interventional Radiology, Neuro Interventional Radiology, CT Scan, Ultrasound, MRI, and General Radiology.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing interventions to assist patients at any level of care, including inpatient, outpatient, critical care, emergency care, and transfers.
  • Administering moderate sedation and managing the care of radiology patients undergoing various procedures under the direction of Intervention Radiologists.
  • Collaborating with other professional disciplines to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired quality patient-directed outcomes.
  • Working with the radiology interdisciplinary team, including the Medical Director, attending Physicians, unit-based support staff, unit manager, unit director, LPNs, and APRNs, to lead patients through the continuum of care.

You will be responsible for the care of patients experiencing trauma or stroke, hemodynamic monitoring, drip titration, and vent management.

Required Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. For new hires after 2012, a Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) is required within a specified timeframe as outlined in the New Hire BSN Agreement policy.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification within 6 months of hire date.
  • Basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
  • Current Moderate Sedation and IV competency credentials. If not in possession at time of hire/transfer, must obtain within 90 days of hire/transfer.
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale certification within six (6) months of completing department orientation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in nursing specialty area.
  • Two (2) years of Interventional Radiology, Cath Lab, Critical Care, Emergency Room experience or equivalent.

(4) 10-hour days - self-scheduled - Saturday rotation and on-call rotation required - must be within a 30-minute response time for urgent, emergent cases
