Blue Origin is revolutionizing the space industry by developing reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles. As a Ground Software Engineer in our Lunar Transportation program, you will play a critical role in building, testing, and integrating the software required for mission operations centers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, with experience in C++, Python, or Rust. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and deploying mission operations safety-critical software systems to ensure the success of the overall Ground Data System (hardware/software) supporting space flight operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement software systems that meet system requirements and safety-critical standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define software requirements, architectures, and designs.
  • Develop rapid prototypes to prove out concepts and quantify technical risks.
  • Coordinate with mission control infrastructure and mission system engineers to plan, develop, and lead system verification and qualification.
  • Produce and contribute to documentation for software architecture, design, verification plans, user manuals, and training material.
  • Follow software development processes that meet Blue Origin and customer-required standards to ensure software safety and reliability.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or higher degree in Software or Engineering related field.
  • 8+ years of software development experience.
  • Proven software development in C++, Python, or Rust.
  • Experience in full lifecycle software engineering, including system design, architecting requirements gathering, software implementation and verification, system integration, and release.
  • Confirmed skills in software build automation, continuous integration, configuration management, verification, and deployment.
  • Familiarity with Linux environment and basic Unix system administration activities.
  • Passion for spaceflight and space exploration.

Compensation: $157,053.75-$219,875.25
