We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Supervisor III (Lead Operations Ranger) to join our team at the PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and construction work at Lake Brownwood State Park.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and lead a team of field maintenance specialists in performing advanced maintenance and construction work.
- Develop and implement work plans, schedules, and budgets for maintenance and repair projects.
- Provide guidance and leadership to team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of facilities, grounds, and equipment, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Manage financial resources, including budgets and purchasing, to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
- Serve as the Additional Duty Safety Officer (ADSO) for visitor and staff safety programs, providing training and guidance to staff and volunteers.
- Provide customer service and public relations functions, ensuring a positive experience for park visitors.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of natural and cultural resource management programs.
- Work under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
- Graduation from High School or GED.
- Four years of facility, equipment, or grounds maintenance experience.
- Three years of experience as a supervisor or team leader, including oversight of paid staff, volunteers, or alternative workforce.
- Valid State driver's license at time of employment.
- Five years of general maintenance experience in repairing buildings, equipment, plumbing, or electrical systems, or grounds maintenance experience.
- Experience working with the public in a park setting.
- Experience as a supervisor or team leader.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, janitorial, and mechanical maintenance and repair tasks.
- Knowledge of First Aid, CPR, and emergency procedures.
- Knowledge of park operations and maintenance practices.
- Knowledge of facility, equipment, and ground maintenance.
- Knowledge of general custodial duties.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics.
- Knowledge of basic leadership principles.
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of natural and cultural resource management and protection.
- Skill in using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Skill in effective verbal and written communication.
- Skill in using standard office equipment.
- Skill in using hand and power tools, mowers, trimmers, chain saws, tractors, vehicles, generators, and other mechanical equipment.
- Skill in initiating, monitoring, and completing minor repair projects or construction projects.
- Skill in meeting deadlines.
- Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner.
- Skill in training others.
- Skill in making independent, sound, and timely decisions.
- Skill in planning, assigning, and/or supervising the work of others.
- Required to work in a public park with overnight camping and day use.
- Required to work 40 hours per week, including various schedules with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
- Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
- Required to perform manual labor, including lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs.
- May be required to operate a State vehicle.
- Required to travel 10% with possible overnight stays.
- Must conform to agency work rules, safety program, and dress and grooming standards.
- Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
