Magnet Medical is seeking an experienced Electrophysiology Specialist to join their team in Washington, D.C. As a key member of the electrophysiology lab, you will play a crucial role in assisting electrophysiologists in diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders.

Job Summary
  • This position requires a highly skilled Electrophysiology Specialist with expertise in electrophysiology procedures, including catheter ablations and pacemaker insertions.
  • You will work closely with the electrophysiology team to prepare patients for procedures, operate specialized equipment, and assist in performing diagnostic tests.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential to provide patient education and support throughout the diagnostic and treatment process.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Procedure Preparation
  • Verify patient information, review medical history, and ensure all necessary documentation is completed.
  • Prepare the electrophysiology lab for procedures, ensuring all equipment is sterile and functioning properly.
  • Assist patients in preparing for procedures, including explaining the process and positioning them correctly.
Assisting During Electrophysiology Procedures
  • Assist electrophysiologists during diagnostic and interventional procedures, such as electrophysiology studies (EPS), catheter ablations, and pacemaker insertions.
  • Operate specialized equipment, including 3D mapping systems, electrophysiology catheters, and cardiac imaging systems.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs during procedures and report any changes or abnormalities to the physician.
Post-Procedure Care and Monitoring
  • Monitor patients post-procedure for any complications, including arrhythmias, bleeding at the insertion site, or adverse reactions to medications.
  • Provide post-procedure instructions to patients and their families, including care of the catheter insertion site and activity restrictions.
Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting
  • Ensure proper calibration, operation, and maintenance of electrophysiology equipment, including mapping systems and recording devices.
  • Troubleshoot any issues that may arise during procedures and clean and sterilize equipment according to infection control standards.
Collaboration with Medical Team
  • Work closely with electrophysiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth and efficient patient care during procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with the team to provide feedback on patient progress and equipment status.
Patient Education and Support
  • Educate patients on the electrophysiology procedure, including what to expect before, during, and after the procedure.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families throughout the diagnostic and treatment process.
Documentation and Record-Keeping
  • Accurately document all aspects of the procedure, including patient information, equipment used, and any changes in the patient's condition.
  • Ensure all records are completed accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) and follow hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.

The estimated salary for this position is around $85,000 - $110,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
