About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Counselor to join our team at Walden Behavioral Care. As a Mental Health Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic support to individuals struggling with mental health issues.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, monitoring their behavior and redirecting as needed.
  • Assist patients through the admission process, including paperwork and orientation.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and provide care within Walden's policies and objectives.
  • Document patient progress and note daily observations.
  • Supervise meals and snacks, providing redirection as necessary.
  • Participate in community meetings, group therapies, and social activities.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions, including DBT, CBT, and Body Image.
  • Communicate effectively with treatment teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Conduct daily patient weights and vitals.
  • Support the Office Manager with administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements
  • High School diploma required, Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field preferred.
  • One year experience working with psychiatric patients preferred.
  • Eating Disorder knowledge and/or experience preferred.
  • CPR certification required.

Physical Requirements
  • Physical agility to manage patients in crisis.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift 10 to 75 pounds.
  • Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
