Scholar Support Specialist

This position provides critical support to scholars with special needs in a regular classroom setting. As a full-time Scholar Aide, you will work closely with scholars, teachers, and support staff to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to scholars with special needs, adapting instruction to meet their unique needs and abilities.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement intervention plans, reinforcing learning activities and tracking scholar progress.
  • Model positive behavior and attitudes, providing academic support and guidance to all scholars.
  • Collect and maintain accurate data on scholar progress, using this information to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions.
  • Support the operations team with various tasks, including clerical duties, setup, and office responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education, defined as completion of 48 semester hours of college coursework; or
  • Obtained an associate (or higher) degree; or
  • Obtained a high school diploma with significant experience working with children and supervising children's behavior.
  • Paid or volunteer experience working with or serving individuals with special needs or behavioral deficits is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A results-oriented team player who is dedicated to scholar achievement and growth.
  • A growth mindset, seeing failures and setbacks as challenges to learn from and overcome.
  • A strong belief in and alignment with Galapagos Rockford Charter School's core beliefs and educational philosophy.
