Crime Analyst Specialist for Public Safety

We are seeking a highly skilled Crime Analyst Specialist to join our team at the City of Fargo. As a key member of our public safety department, you will play a vital role in helping us prevent and reduce crime in our community.
Job SummaryThe Crime Analyst Specialist is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting crime data and intelligence to support our law enforcement efforts. You will work closely with our police officers, detectives, and other stakeholders to identify trends, patterns, and potential hotspots of crime.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and analyze crime data from various sources, including police reports, crime statistics, and social media.
- Identify trends, patterns, and potential hotspots of crime, and provide actionable intelligence to support law enforcement efforts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including local business owners, residents, and other organizations.
- Communicate effectively with police officers, detectives, and other stakeholders to ensure that crime analysis is incorporated into their daily operations.
- Participate in the development and implementation of crime reduction strategies, including the use of data-driven approaches.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as criminology, criminal justice, or statistics.
- At least two years of experience in crime analysis or a related field.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect and analyze large datasets.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
The salary for this position is estimated to be around $60,000 to $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
