Job Summary

ASN Constructors is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with company safety standards, implementing safety directives, and improving safety performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular site inspections to evaluate work conditions and ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Liaise with external parties, including government-employed inspectors, to evaluate construction site processes
  • Collaborate with project management teams and field workers to implement solutions to safety-related issues
  • Develop and conduct safety training sessions for employees and vendors
  • Lead investigations into workplace incidents and injuries
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, planning, and time management skills

Requirements:

  • 4-year post-secondary education in Occupational Safety and Health or related field
  • 3-5 years of progressive field safety experience in construction
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • OSHA 500 authorization highly recommended
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification preferred
  • Valid driver's license

Work Environment:

  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts
  • Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
  • Loud noise levels in the work environment

Physical Demands:

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions
  • Extensive moving or positioning heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Ability to traverse irregular and steep terrain
  • Ability to respond quickly to sounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and ascend/descend to reach materials or enter heavy equipment
