Job Title: Tree Trimming Specialist

This role involves the careful trimming, topping, and reshaping of trees to eliminate low-hanging, dead, and superfluous branches, ensuring clearance for utility powerlines.

Job Type: Full-Time +, Non-Exempt

Compensation: Competitive, Hourly

Key Responsibilities:

Trims and/or removes trees, branches, and trunk sections. Operates and maintains all necessary tools and equipment. Cuts and splits large debris into manageable pieces. Applies treatments to areas to inhibit further growth. Loads and unloads trucks. Feeds brush and debris into wood chippers. Repairs minor job-related damage to lawns, fences, and walkways. Services gasoline, air, and hand-powered tools and other equipment. Communicates hand signals, directs traffic, and operates trucks and equipment as assigned. Maintains a clean and organized work area and vehicle. Ensures safety for employees and the public in and around the work area. Collaborates with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways. Sets up barriers, warning signs, flags, and markers to protect employees and the public. Trained to perform tree and bucket rescue operations. Assists in training new team members. Takes responsibility for inspecting and ensuring the proper working condition of tools, trucks, and other equipment. Requests repairs or replacements when necessary. Maintains good housekeeping on the truck and at work locations. Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age or older. Ability to work with hands above head for extended periods. Must be capable of walking, climbing, and working from ladders or at various heights on uneven and slippery surfaces, performing mentally and physically demanding tasks under adverse weather conditions while handling equipment or materials. No fear of heights. Good hand-to-eye coordination is essential. Willingness to join the local union and pay union dues is required.

Education & Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Entry-level position; no prior experience required. Previous experience is a plus.

Pre-Screen:

Upon offer, candidates may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

Driver License preferred, but not mandatory.

Travel Requirements:

Must have reliable transportation to and from the designated work location.

Safety Considerations:

Due to the inherently hazardous nature of the industry and the requirement to work with or around dangerous equipment, employees must possess sufficient eyesight to judge distances and coordinate equipment and tools. They must maintain focus and concentration for extended periods, endure exposure to various weather conditions while completing tasks, wear personal protective equipment as necessary, and be capable of entering and exiting a vehicle multiple times daily. Additionally, they should have the stamina to navigate diverse terrains and perform job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour workday, communicate effectively, and handle conflicts professionally.
