Job Title: Tree Maintenance Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

Trims and/or removes trees, branches, and trunk sections. Operates and maintains all necessary tools and equipment. Cuts and splits large debris into manageable sizes. Applies treatments to areas to inhibit further growth. Loads and unloads trucks efficiently. Feeds brush and debris into wood chippers. Conducts minor repairs to lawns, fences, and walkways as needed. Services gasoline, air, and hand-powered tools and other equipment. Directs traffic and operates trucks and equipment as assigned. Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of trucks and work areas. Ensures safety for employees and the public in and around the work area. Collaborates with customers, police, and fire departments when necessary. Sets up barriers, warning signs, flags, and markers to protect employees and the public. Trained to perform tree and bucket rescue operations. Assists in training new staff members. Takes responsibility for inspecting and ensuring proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and other equipment. Requests repairs or replacements when necessary. Maintains good housekeeping practices on trucks and at job sites. Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to work with hands raised for extended periods. Capable of walking, climbing, and working from ladders or at various heights on uneven and slippery surfaces, performing mentally and physically demanding tasks under challenging weather conditions while handling equipment or materials. No fear of heights. Good hand-eye coordination is essential. Willingness to join the local union and pay union dues.

Education & Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Entry-level position; no prior experience required. Previous experience is advantageous.

Pre-Screening:

Candidates may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and/or MVR check upon offer.

License & Certifications:

Driver's License preferred but not mandatory.

Travel Requirements:

Must have reliable transportation to and from the designated location.

Safety Considerations:

Given the inherently hazardous nature of this industry and the requirements to work with or around dangerous equipment, employees must possess sufficient eyesight to judge distances and coordinate equipment and tools, maintain focus for extended periods, endure exposure to various weather conditions while completing tasks, wear personal protective equipment as required, enter and exit vehicles multiple times daily, and have the stamina to navigate diverse terrains throughout a standard workday. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for understanding job instructions and managing conflicts professionally.
