Job Summary
The Cardiac Sonographer II performs advanced cardiac ultrasound services and procedures for adult patients, utilizing a variety of equipment and techniques to obtain comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms. Key responsibilities include preparing patients for procedures, obtaining clinical history, and adapting imaging techniques to obtain accurate results.

Essential Functions
1. Prepare patients for procedures and obtain clinical history to adapt imaging techniques.
2. Perform advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures, utilizing various equipment and techniques.
3. Identify and define cardiac abnormalities, extending the scope of the examination as necessary.
4. Assist physicians in procedure rooms and operating rooms, performing echocardiograph studies to aid in complex procedures.
5. Record statistics and perform daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment.

Key Success Factors
1. Knowledge of complex sonographic principles, instrumentation, and techniques.
2. Ability to explain the purpose of the echocardiographic examination to patients.
3. Knowledge of approved clinical protocols for each type of cardiovascular ultrasound.
4. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with healthcare providers.
5. Skilled utilization of computers and medical equipment.

Qualifications
- EDUCATION: Grad of an Accredited Program or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
- EXPERIENCE: Less than 1 Year of Experience.
- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION: Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS in 30 days of hire or transfer. Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS): Must have one of the following at time of hire/transfer: RCS through Cardio Credentialing Intl. (CCI) or RDCS through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
