POSITION SUMMARY
The Facility Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational integrity of the facility, which encompasses essential mechanical systems, fire and life-safety apparatus, grounds maintenance, lighting systems, plumbing, kitchen appliances, electrical systems, controls, and all other components integral to the physical structure and its surrounding infrastructure.
This position requires embodying our core values of Fun, Friendly, and Community while upholding the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, aesthetics, and guest satisfaction. Compliance with all training and licensure requirements for staff is essential, along with contributing to the overall upkeep of the facilities.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
The following responsibilities are intended to illustrate the scope of work in this role and are not exhaustive:
- Demonstrate motivation and resourcefulness to achieve established objectives.
- Influence quality guest service and profitability through effective execution.
- Adhere to departmental standards and guidelines to maintain efficient operations.
- Assist in managing utility expenses by implementing operational efficiencies.
- Implement maintenance programs and maintain service records as required.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, kitchen, and other equipment throughout the property.
- Maintain the exterior of the building, ensuring curb appeal through snow removal, lawn care, painting, and other necessary actions.
- Oversee routine maintenance and operation of the casino's physical structure, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, ensuring safe and effective facility operations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and Hazcom standards, including adherence to departmental MSDS sheets and procedures.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, providing clear updates to the Chief Engineer regarding work performed.
- Respond to communications regarding complaints or concerns and take appropriate actions as necessary.
- Work efficiently to guarantee maximum productivity and guest satisfaction with minimal supervision.
- Participate in all required meetings to obtain and share relevant information.
- Assess the condition of furniture, fixtures, and décor through continuous visual inspections of public areas, making repairs as needed or directed.
- Operate all equipment safely, following standard operating procedures set forth by the equipment manufacturer and facility guidelines.
- Conduct oneself in a gracious and professional manner that reflects positively on the company and its core values.
- Participate in the property Safety Committee as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by department or company management.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must possess the ability to:
- Accurately calculate figures and perform mathematical functions relevant to business needs.
- Identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Interpret various technical and mathematical formulas.
- Follow a range of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Be flexible to work all shifts, including holidays, nights, weekends, and overtime as required by business needs.
- Be physically mobile, with the ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 50 lbs., and perform various physical tasks in diverse work environments.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering, facility operations, or a related field.
A significant combination of vocational education, apprenticeship training, in-plant training, and/or on-the-job training is preferred. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are essential.
Ability to:
- Read, analyze, interpret, and comprehend technical procedures, government regulations, business periodicals, instructions, and correspondence.
- Write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals; effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups of managers, staff, guests, and the general public.
- Possess a working knowledge of Excel and Word; attention to detail and accuracy is crucial.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to other duties, every Team Member has the following compliance responsibilities:
- Attend required training sessions.
- Obtain necessary licenses.
- Perform duties in compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Ensure minors are not allowed in gambling areas or served alcoholic beverages.
- Understand the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relevant to their department.
- Be aware of the Property's programs addressing problem gambling.
- Consult with appropriate individuals to maintain effective written policies and procedures for compliance with state regulations.
- Investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations, reporting them to the appropriate management levels.
- Report any acts of wrongdoing by Team Members that come to their attention.
