Job Summary

The Registered Nurse will play a critical role in our Heart Institute Office, providing direct patient care and contributing to the development of our patients' plans of care. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and compassionate nurse to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Triage patients, verify allergies, symptoms, and pharmacy information, and utilize the nursing process to develop patient plans of care.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards and policies.
  • Prioritize and organize patient care, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
  • Observe, record, and report patient conditions and reactions to medications and treatments to physicians.
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
  • Review lab and diagnostic test results with patients, providing education on diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness.
  • Perform blood draws, urine dips, rapid streps, influenza, mono, CMP, CBC, cardiac inhalation treatments, start IVs, bladder catheters, injections, EKGs, dressing changes, and splinting.
  • Handle specimens, perform lab testing, and verify results in Powerchart.
  • Participate in quality control, instrumentation, and proficiency testing, ensuring the integrity and dating of all lab reagents.
  • Assist in ordering reagents, lab supplies, and medical supplies, and clean surgical instruments for sterilization.
  • Audit charts daily for missing charges and diagnosis.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Minimum of Associate's Degree required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility or private physician office.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Florida.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge: uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
