Position Overview: The Survey/CADD Technician is accountable for the successful execution of the data processing phase for designated field survey projects. U.S. Residency Required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts topographic plotting, terrain modeling, plat preparation, note reduction, and design file generation.
  • Executes office survey tasks in alignment with the Minimum Standards of Practice for Surveying.
  • Researches property owner and utility records.
  • Operates and oversees the use of all survey instruments, including electronic data collectors, levels, electronic total stations, GPS, and survey vehicles.
  • Performs necessary office computations to complete task assignments, including quality assurance and quality control.
  • Monitors job progress and maintains data collector equipment.
  • Coordinates information for stakeout services.
  • Analyzes raw data for mathematical closure and geometric precision.
  • Prepares finished grade sheets, topographic maps, survey records, corner records, and other survey documentation.
  • Communicates daily progress of the crew towards project objectives with office personnel.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Undertakes other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in coordinate geometry and trigonometry.
  • Extensive knowledge of field surveying techniques, including data collection, traverse adjustments, GPS surveys, and construction stakeouts.
  • Familiarity with third-party software for data reduction and drafting, such as AutoCAD or Carlson, is preferred; knowledge of MicroStation is also beneficial.
  • Understanding of Subsurface Utility Designation and/or Test Holes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in the field.
  • A pathway towards survey licensure.

Work Environment:

The majority of work is conducted in a general office setting (approximately 85% of the time). The role is primarily sedentary but may occasionally require standing and walking. The office environment is adequately lit and temperature-controlled, with no hazardous conditions present.

Fieldwork is necessary for about 15% of the time, which may involve outdoor conditions such as heat, cold, humidity, and aridity. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as necessary.
