CADD and Survey Technician

Position Overview: The role involves overseeing the data processing phase of designated field survey projects. U.S. Residency Required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct topographic plotting, terrain modeling, plat preparation, note reduction, and design file generation.
  • Execute office survey tasks in alignment with Minimum Standards of Practice for Surveying.
  • Research property owner and utility records.
  • Manage and operate all survey equipment, including electronic data collectors, levels, electronic total stations, GPS, and survey vehicles.
  • Perform necessary office computations to ensure task assignments are completed, including quality assurance and quality control.
  • Monitor job progress and maintain data collector equipment.
  • Coordinate information for stakeout services.
  • Analyze raw data for mathematical closure and geometric precision.
  • Prepare finished grade sheets, topographic maps, survey records, corner records, and other related reports.
  • Communicate daily progress of the crew towards project objectives with office personnel.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Carry out other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in coordinate geometry and trigonometry.
  • Extensive knowledge of field surveying techniques, including data collection, traverse adjustments, GPS surveys, and construction stakeouts.
  • Familiarity with third-party software for data reduction and drafting, such as AutoCAD or Carlson, and MicroStation.
  • Understanding of Subsurface Utility Designation and/or Test Holes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in the field.
  • A pathway towards survey licensure.

Work Environment:

The majority of work is conducted in a general office setting (85% of the time), which is typically sedentary but may require occasional standing and walking. The office environment is adequately lit and temperature-controlled, with no hazardous conditions.

Fieldwork is required 15% of the time, which may involve outdoor conditions such as heat, cold, humidity, and aridity. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be necessary as needed.
