Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled GI Technician-Endoscopy to join our team at NYU Langone Health System. As a GI Technician-Endoscopy, you will play a vital role in preparing procedure rooms, facilitating the availability of equipment, and providing safe and therapeutic care to patients.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare procedure rooms in an organized and timely manner, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are available.
  • Perform a variety of cleaning duties necessary for the orderly functioning of procedure rooms and units.
  • Assist with patient transport and cleaning duties, maintaining a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment.
  • Comply with regulatory and quality policies governing safety standards and infection control.
  • Monitor product supply usage and waste reduction.
  • Adhere to strict scope reprocessing standards based on model of endoscope, manufacturer guidelines, and regulatory safety standards.
  • Accurately and promptly report all changes in patient condition and pertinent patient information to the registered nurse.
  • Assist patient, family, visitors, and healthcare team members by answering questions, delivering messages, and giving information within the scope of practice.
  • Ensure appropriate emergency equipment is present and operational, and respond to emergency situations as appropriate.
  • Provide direct patient care utilizing policies and procedures, patient care guidelines, physician's orders, and endoscopy skill set.
  • Participate in orientation of new employees, unit-based quality improvement measures, and keep current in Endoscopic and other related areas.
Requirements
  • High School or GED.
  • Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, Inc. (SGNA) Associates Program.
  • SGNA Advanced Associates Program.
  • Nursing Assistant or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral), interpersonal, problem-solving, critical thinking skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
  • Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER).
  • Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER).
